Text Box: Annual Membership Banquet

On Saturday, January 27th the club held its Annual Membership Meeting & Banquet at the club house.  The filets prepared by Nick, along with his crew (Moonshine Gambler, Rattlesnake & Chipola Kid), were absolutely delicious and our thanks to all for their effort is putting on such an event. We had sixty-one in attendance as we socialized and took care of club business. Below are some highlights of the meeting:

*The secretarial minutes were read and accepted.

*Cameo Rose presented a financial report from Hangin' 06 indicating that we netted about $3600 from the annual match.  With approximately $6000 in checking and $4000 in savings, we now have a total of approximately $10,000 in total funds.

*Rattlesnake presented a report of the past TG Summit and the upcoming issues for the following year.  A straw poll was taken on “when does the stage begin - before or after the first shot is fired.” The minimum velocity (power factor) is being considered again. The 650 rule was abolished several years ago. There is a new section on the SASS wire answering rule questions. The RO Committee recommended only major safety penalty assessed per firearm per stage. Failure to award shooter with penalty is adversely affecting other competitors. Crazy Emmitt noted that penalties are to reinforce safety. There will be no standard BP ammunition; however, there is a minimum smoke criteria equal to one cc of fff black powder. Coaching never is grounds for re-shoots as it is the shooters’ responsibility to know the stage. Next year's agenda will have some more highly debatable items on the agenda.
Rattlesnake pointed out that only Florida Parish Skeet Club members have range
privileges at times other than regularly scheduled events, should shooters be interested in expanded club privileges. All FPS members will have to go through a range orientation class, sign off on the stated rules, and must abide by those rules. An explanation of the FPS membership was given and it was pointed out that with reduced monthly match fees and multiple shooters in a family, the differential between the two membership options is even less.

*Kentucky Tom presented a 16-point Construction Report of prospective improvements and additions to the cowboy town.  (see below) He stressed the need for man-power on workdays and greater club participation in order to
facilitate the improvements that are on the drawing board.  We want to continue to build
our cowboy town, but it will require the labor of the members to carry out these plans.

*Side matches will be announced in the Coyote Creek Chronicle for the following monthly match.  If you do not happen to have a particular gun, come out for the side matches, since there are usually shooters who are willing to loan you guns.  Since there is an interest fin long-range side matches and these require more time and the closing down the main range, we will be holding these on Sunday afternoons.  They will be announce in advance.

*Mounted shooting will be coming in the near future with a cross country course for
the mounted shooters as well as the wagon/buckboard division for the ground shooters.

*Cameo Rose planted 20 trees on Saturday, and we are attempting to get the grass to grow on the range.  Beginning with the March match parking will be at the club house.  There is a walk-way from the club house to Stage 10.  (Anyone with medical conditions who needs special accommodations, please see one of the board members.)

*Club badges are being re-ordered.  Contact Cameo Rose if you would like to order one.

*A motion was approved to purchase transportation (golf cart / four-wheeler) for the club to expedite transportation from the club house to the shooting range and the moving of target around the range during setup for the matches.  If anyone knows of someone who may have one to donate to the club, please contact one of the officers.  A donation would allow us to spend more money on the construction effort for the town.

*A clarification of the Wild Bunch category was made - it will be offered for the March monthly match.

          *The meeting was adjourned.

Construction Report

Presented by Kentucky Tom

 1.  Knock-down targets locking system.  We would also like to look for a mechanism to mark targets. (Suggest at banquet options for facilitating this.)

 2.  Build lockable cabinets into the Hotel for keys, paint, props, etc. (one of the higher priorities)

 3.  Wind brace for the hotel (high priority)

 4.  Finish the mine – waterproof top and finish

 5.  Carve out space in the berms for load/unloading tables for Bay #1 & #2.

 6.  Roof coating for storage bins.  Tom made a motion to buy cool seal at the appropriate time up to $400.  Approved. Charles will order material up to $400.

 7.  Establish flag blocks at each stage.  We will use the previous stage number blocks to accomplish this.  They will have stage numbers on them as well.

 8.  FPS would like to have the Pavilion completed on Stage #1 in the near future. Tom and Snake will get together to sketch the plans and present this to Nick Brocato.

 9.  Livery stable including roof to cover the wagon and possibly blacksmith’s area.  Rattlesnake and Moonshine Gambler are looking at different boxes to change the façade of the wagon.

 10.  Canvas roof for fort.

 11.  New large Outhouse (for shooting) and convert existing outhouse to hold target(s) and have remote door opener.

 12.  Complex (for barricade area) consisting of Sheriff’s Office, Bank, Dr. Office, etc.  This item is in conception at this time and for future plans which will require approval to spend additional money.

 13.  Cameo Rose suggested permanent covered loading/unloading structures.  We discussed doing away with the green loading/unloading tables by Hangin’ 07.

 14.  Barricade running down range between boot hill and the wagon.

 15.  Fence to cover the front of the stockpile  and containers.

 16.  Electricity in the future for the range.
