Quarterly Membership Meeting

Following the April match, we held our quarterly general membership meeting.  Below is a summary of that meeting:

Secretary Report  -  Minutes were accepted as printed in the previous newsletter following the annual membership banquet/meeting in January.

Treasury Report  -  We have approximately $13,400 in our checking account and $4,400 in our savings account.  Receipts from Kentucky Tom for expenditures on range construction to be received and are due.

Territorial Governor Report  -  Due to changes and clarifications to the rules at the Summit in December, members are encouraged to take the RO I and RO II classes as they are offered.  Members who have previously taken these classes may audit the class (no charge).

Political Update  -  Crazy Emmitt pointed out that due to many more first-time gun owners now, it is important to encourage them to get involved in the NRA and other gun organizations.  Should current gun owners not be in favor of aspects of the NRA, then it is better to voice those concerns to the NRA rather than other people in the community.

General Business:

Construction  -  Kentucky Tom will get started on the livery stable now that the Mississippi match in April is behind us.  Some members have asked about posting jobs in the Cantina down on the range that could be done when members are at the range.

Early Posse  -  Louisiana Cuz will be heading the “Early Posse” during the months of June through September.  You must contact Cuz during the week prior to match day to let him know if you plan to shoot with  the early posse.  There must be at least 10 registered shooters in order for the early posse to shoot.  Registration is a 7:00 a.m. and shooting begins at 7:30 a.m.

Meeting adjourned.

Club Announcements

Construction of Livery Stable  -  The drawings for the livery stable are posted at the clubhouse.  Now that the Mississippi match is behind us, Kentucky Tom will be sending out an announcement as to when “hands” will be needed to assist with this project.  WE NEED YOUR HELP when the time arrives to embark on  this  project.

Early Posse Louisiana Cuz will be heading the “Early Posse” during the months of June through September.   Please contact Cuz during the week prior to match day to let him know that you plan to shoot in the early posse.  There must be at least 10 registered shooters in order for the early posse to shoot and to run an efficient posse.  Registration is a 7:00 a.m. and shooting begins at 7:30 a.m.

Prospective Cowboy Shooting Experience -  Malone LaVeigh has offered to give prospective shooters a hand at trying our cowboy guns on match day.  Beginning around 11:00 a.m., prospective shooters are invited to take part in a new shooter experience and have the opportunity to shoot some of the guns used in cowboy action shooting.  He is planning to shoot through on the fifth stage and then set up a bay where prospective shooters/visitors can try out some of the cowboy guns.  Anyone who wishes to give him a hand is welcomed to do so.   If you have friends who are interested in CAS, please invite them to come to a monthly match and try their hand at our sport.

Quarterly Long Range Shoot -  A long range shoot will now be offered on a quarterly basis on the Sunday following our monthly match.  Sighting in of your long range guns can take place on Saturday afternoon following the match.  Shooting will begin on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.  (Jan. / April / July / Oct)

Camping at the Range  -  Florida Parish Skeet Club Members:  The overnight camping charge at the range $10 per night.  Be sure that the camping fee is paid to Ms. Sally at the skeet club for your overnight stay.

RO II Class  -  An RO I class was offered in April.  Rattlesnake Blake will be offering a RO II class in the upcoming months.  When a date is set, an email will be sent.  In order to take the RO II class, a shooter must have six months shooting experience in CAS.

Text Box: COWBOY CREED

May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your saddlebag always hold a coin or two.

May your trails led to excitement and thrill,
May you have control of your horse’s strong will.

May the Good Lord bless your day of shooting,
May your posse respond to your “pings” with loud hooting.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near,
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer.
